VIRTUAL 2 HALF-DAY PROGRAM

Strategic Management of the Electric Utility Distribution System

Online Course

An e-learning course that you will not want to miss!

December 1 & 2, 2026

10:00 - 2:00 PM (MST)

This course will be presented in two (2) “live” online half-day sessions on Tuesday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 2nd. All sessions incorporate high-quality presentations by qualified instructors with Q&A and other opportunities for group interaction. You will receive digital copies of the presentation materials in advance, allowing you to work with them before, during and after the online sessions. The scheduled online sessions will also be recorded and available for viewing for a period of thirty (30) days, enabling participants to work around any scheduling conflicts.

Participants completing this course will receive a certificate for seven (7) Professional Development Hours (PDH).

COURSE OVERVIEW

An electric utility’s distribution system is its most visible and valuable asset, essential to business success and connected to every customer. In addition to delivering energy safely, affordably, and reliably to a traditional electrical load base, today’s distribution system must be robust in its capacity and resilience to support an increasingly electrified economy. This includes connection points and capacity for large data center loads, throughput for distributed energy resources, and infra-structure for communications and information management systems.

This course will address both the technical and business aspects of what it takes to achieve capacity for growth, reliability, resilience, and economy through strategic planning and proactive investment in the distribution infrastructure.

COURSE TOPICS
  • Current trends in distribution system management (reliability, resilience, automation, costs),
  • Examination of best practice options for system performance analytics
  • Overview of state-of-the-art planning approaches and tools
  • New technologies in infrastructure condition diagnostics
  • Overhead and underground component life-cycle management
  • Application of economic models to support financing

LEARNING METHODS

This course is applications-oriented, including high-quality presentations Q&A, group interaction, and opportunities to check what you have learned.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

This course has value for those who work at all levels of distribution planning, design and operation and is intended for:

  • Executive management
  • System and distribution planning engineers
  • Financial planners/analysts
  • Distribution design engineers and technicians
  • Distribution asset managers (engineering and financial)
  • • Consulting engineers
